Money Magnifies Who You Are

We’ve all seen wildly generous people as well as stingy misers. Both might be wealthy, which proves money doesn’t buy happiness. Their wealth doesn’t guarantee that they are better people just because they have wealth.

Money is a magnifier. It puts a spotlight on your personality and projects it onto the big screen of your community. If you are a jerk without money, you’ll likely be a jerk with it. If you are fabulous when you are broke, chances are you will be extra fabulous when the wealth comes your way.

People attribute a lot of their personal satisfaction on how easy life is. How wealthy they perceive themselves to be translates to the ease they expect to have in life. Foolishly thinking you’ll be nicer when things are easier is… well, foolish.

Having more money doesn’t guarantee a better life. It won’t make you happier or easier to be around. Having a good attitude begins humbly when there’s only you and all you have to offer is yourself. So, improving your personality and becoming the best you that you can be is part of a healthy, wealthy mindset. Here are some tips for developing your nicer self on your way to becoming your wealthier self:

Practice gratitude- Start a gratitude journal, give more compliments, be more positive in the face of not-so-positive situations. Practice gratitude until you become a grateful person.

Have good boundaries- People who don’t set good boundaries are usually upset when people tread on them. Knowing who you are and how to stop others from intruding on your space makes it possible to keep from being bothered by other people’s behavior.

Give more- Be less selfish. Find ways outside of your comfort zone to give. Give when it hurts. Give when it requires more than you want or have. Giving isn’t giving if it’s surplus. Giving is a lifestyle that says what’s yours can belong to someone else if there is a need.

Volunteer- Get out there. Go into the places you keep yourself and your family sheltered from. From the dog pound to the rehab hospital, the world is full of people who are worse off than you. It is humbling and educating to help programs making a difference in your community.

Money magnifies who you are, so work on who you are while you work on your wealth mindset. Evolve and grow to be the sort of person who sees the value in being wealthy and sharing your resources with the world.
